PL Reflections

In the PL newsletter, aphorisms or brief comments were included as PL Reflections. Here in this column, the new PL website will continue this tradition with occasional contributions.

Reality is never as good or as bad as our wishes or our fears.

John Gunderson

Statistics on suicide:

A simple way to remember basic numbers is the following:

About half of all persons with clinical depression have suicidal ideation.

About 1/3 of all persons with clinical depression make suicide attempts.

About 10% of all persons who make suicide attempts eventually kill themselves.

About half of all persons who make their first suicide attempt die from it.
